Adobe Experience Manager Communities
Project Type
Zero to One, Proof of Concept
Date
2013
In 2013, Adobe's enterprise customers were having some serious pain points with a social collab module in AEM a.k.a SoCo. This module offered out of the box social web features like profile, user groups and social graph, but it was missing functionality that would foster true community and user engagement. These customers were also contending with backend replication issues at scale and Adobe was unable to debug because a site running on Soco to run diagnostics did not exist.
I was asked to lead a buildout of a community forum that would be built on the SoCo module with the primary goal of showcasing Adobe's vision for this module going forward and addressing the replication issue our customers were experiencing at scale. This wasn't something you could spoof or simulate- it was going to require an actual site with actual users...lots of users.
I acted as product manager to interview customers, users and stakeholders to define the problem we were solving, establishing success metrics and OKRs, and defining the MVP and user stories for a community site that targeted AEM users, technologists, and consultants to connect, get information and share knowledge.
Worked with marketing and the Adobe Influence program to establish branding, GTM and drive awareness and conversion to the site.
This required alignment across a myriad of stakeholders: AEM product, engineering and Marketing, Adobe@Adobe engineering, Adobe.com engineering. Community, Help & Learning, Branding, Legal Security, and the Adobe Influencer Program.
Results:
*Resolved complex fundamental architecture and replication issues for both Adobe and its key enterprise customers.
*AEM technologists and consultants had a single place to connect and share knowledge
*The new features our team built ( e.g news feed, group administration, gamification) were absorbed back into the AEM So co product itself as out of the box functionality.
